The Bible calls Christians towards a ‘special’ affection for certain types of people; the oppressed or marginalized, the poor, the orphan, the widow. While identifying the orphan, widow and even poor are simpler, knowing who is oppressed or marginalized can be more difficult.
The M68 Project believes that since the beginning of time, the sins of greed and pride have created divisions between groups of people, mostly those who hold power and those who do not (or threaten the power). The Bible shows us that these sins can be passed down through generations, and through these generations, the gap between groups of people only widens. Thankfully, the Bible also shows us that, by the unifying work of the Holy Spirit, relationships between the oppressed and their oppressors can be reconciled.
So, who are the marginalized people in our communities? Knowing the facts help inform our work towards justice.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS:
We understand the ‘why’ is extremely complex but also important to explore. But the complexity, and even disagreement on the ‘why’ does not eliminate the fact that these gaps between white people and black people exist. It is like getting a bad medical diagnosis. The ‘why’ you got the disease matters, but sometimes, the ‘why’ has nothing to do with the cure.
In NO way do we believe that black people are inferior or incapable of achieving at the same level as white people. In fact, history shows that when the culture is fair and balanced, black people often achieve at higher levels than other people groups.
