why go to this effort?
The M68 Project believes that our influence in policy is an essential act towards the pursuit for equitable justice. The most effective way to influence policy is to influence the politicians that put it in place, i.e. VOTE. We find it more difficult to engage in local elections because people talk about it less & information is more sparse. Our effort is to change that, or at least create 1 place where you can get the basic information. We encourage you to have JUSTICE at the top of your mind when doing your research. FACTS ABOUT OUR LOCAL ELECTIONS
38,743 or less than 5% of Fort Worth's population decided the Mayor's election in 2019!
Mayor Price won the 2019 Mayoral election with 21,617 votes.
5 of the 8 City Council members won their election in 2019 with less than 3,500 votes (1 of the 3 that had more than 3,500 votes was unopposed).
Fort Worth local elections are non-partisan, meaning candidates do not register under a specific political party. As such, there are no primaries & candidates will not show up under a party affiliation on the ballot.
Fort Worth is split into 8 voting precincts (districts). Oddly, these districts are 2-9. Every Fort Worth resident will have the opportunity to vote for a Mayoral candidate. However, residents will only be able to cast a City Council vote for a specific candidate in their district. So, KNOW WHAT DISTRICT YOU LIVE IN.
EARLY VOTING: April 19, 2021 - April 27, 2021
ELECTION DAY: May 1, 2021
